The Managing Director: Renewables is responsible for building relationships with renewable developers and identifying opportunities to advise on and fund nascent power projects. This role leads a team in sourcing, nurturing, and closing deals for renewable projects, executing capital investments, and managing investor relations. The MD will also collaborate with the company's management to ensure operational compliance and performance. DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: - Leadership and Management: Train, lead, and inspire a team of finance professionals. - Investment Strategy: Develop and execute investment strategies for identifying, evaluating, and acquiring renewable energy projects in targeted global markets. - Financial Analysis and Due Diligence: Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and rigorous due diligence to assess the viability, risks, and returns of potential investments, with a strong emphasis on project portfolio financing and structuring. - Stakeholder Relationships: Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including project developers, financial institutions, and government agencies. - Industry Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations, policy changes, and technological advancements in the renewable energy sector to inform investment decisions. - Portfolio Management: Monitor the performance of renewable energy assets, optimize portfolio performance, and identify opportunities for growth and diversification. - Negotiations and Deal Execution: Lead negotiations and execute complex financing and transactions for renewable energy projects, with a focus on structuring deals and managing contracts. - Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and compliance requirements. - Financial Acumen: Create robust financial modeling and analyses, develop valuation methods, structure financial arrangements, and assess risk management strategies. - Deep Understanding of Renewable Energy: Drive sustainable growth within the energy sector. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, CFA, CAIA) preferred. - 8+ years of relevant experience from a Bank or an Asset Management Firm. - Must be fluent in Spanish and/or Portuguese - Demonstrable experience in renewable project development, investment banking, capital markets, private equity in international and domestic markets. - Proven experience with private equity investment processes, including deal sourcing, comprehensive due diligence, and investment execution, specifically within renewable energy project portfolios. - Extensive experience globally in structuring and financing renewable energy projects across various sectors, including solar energy, wind power, biomass, hydroelectricity, and emerging technologies like energy storage and green hydrogen. - Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a solid understanding of financial concepts and valuation methodologies. - Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex ideas. - Demonstrated commitment to being trained and developed as a leader, and to training and developing a team with integrity and transparent communication. - Ability to manage and facilitate multiple projects concurrently. - Organized with the ability to effectively communicate instructions and requests to the team. - Exceptional customer service with an investor focus. - Must be coachable, authentic, easy to work with, and a collaborative team member. - Must have the grit and agility necessary to thrive in a start-up environment. - Willingness to train, develop, and support a global leadership team, and effectively work with people of all nationalities, languages, and cultures in a totally remote environment across various time zones. - Exceptional commitment to integrity, delivering outcomes on time, and resolving breakdowns to meet project promises. - Passion for and dedication to the transformation of communities on a world scale. - Demonstrated commitment to the growth and development of the company. - Ability to travel locally and internationally to various countries, sometimes for extended periods.
