DuPont Adhesives is a leading global provider of collaborative solutions and advanced materials for automotive and commercial transportation original equipment manufacturers, tier suppliers, and aftermarket customers. Our materials focus includes structural, elastic and rubber-to-substrate adhesive solutions with an emphasis on achieving customer and corporate goals. DuPont Adhesives business has an exciting opportunity for an Adhesives TS&D (Technical Service & Development) Research Investigator.  This job will support new and existing adhesives, for customers, and capitalize on additional value growth opportunities.  TS&D provides technical support and testing of our adhesiveâs product line. In this role, the individual will be responsible for the testing/data packages when qualifying products and substrates for launch at our customers.  In addition, TS&D assists R&D in the development of products and manufacturing with the qualification of products and process improvements.   At times, it may be necessary to use these skills for problem identification and resolution.  There will be interaction, on cross functional teams, within DuPont (global R&D, TS&D, commercial, manufacturing, etc.).  For our key customers, proactive communication and recurrent on-site visits is expected.  Strong team work, building professional relationships, and technical credibility is essential.

Key roles and responsibilities:

• This person will be focused on global BETA⢠adhesive bonding technologies, substrates, processes, and applications for automotive OEM, tier, Aftermarket, and Commercial Transportation customers.  Work will be done with internal personnel and external customers to evaluate their current and future products and projects with a goal of achieving product release and launching to the marketplace.  Goals will be tied to the business strategy and the candidate will participate in the regional product and strategy development.  Understanding of competitive landscape and products will be necessary. 

• This person will coordinate customer work with the support of the technical team and a technician.  Testing will utilize ASTM, SAE, customer, and internal specifications to prepare, test, and analyze new products and substrates.  Tests will include mechanical and physical property testing.  Ability to learn and share knowledge, of the current and future adhesives product line, will be essential. 

• When a problem arises, this person may be asked to provide the necessary testing and determine next steps.  This person will be asked to participate in troubleshooting field problems and to lead or be a participant in formal Root Cause Investigations.  The individual may be expected to utilize their knowledge toward preventing future problems by helping develop PFMEAâs (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and process standards.

• This person will have customer exposure in the form of testing, meetings, training, and trials.  Meetings will be on the phone or on site to ensure things are running at the plant level.  Customers must be advised on how the products work, process, application, storage, and handling.  It may be necessary to identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the current products, processes, or services. 

• This person will become familiar with the quality system and must be compliant in their documentation.  Leadership and engagement in site safety programs are mandatory. 

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in a Science related field is preferred.  A fundamental understanding of chemistry and mechanical testing would be a benefit.
• Relevant automotive customer experience.  Understanding of equipment, knowledge of automotive assembly process.  Previous work experience in a lab or industrial environment. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Portguese and English. 
• Able to travel 50% of the time.  Overtime may be necessary if the project warrants it. A hybrid schedule of working from home and office/customer will be allowable.
• Strong multi-tasking, problem solving, and time management skills.  Able to work independently and take initiative.  Must be able to work in pressure situations.  Respond and react to changing priorities and adhere to timelines.
