Ebury São Paulo - 4 days a week office based working - 1 day per week flexible working from home

The Legal Department at Ebury plays a fundamental role in the Ebury Group's operations. It offers frontline guidance on legal, regulatory, and governance issues that fuel Ebury's ongoing growth.

We are in search of a dedicated and ambitious senior lawyer excited about the opportunity to work in a rapidly evolving company and oversee the legal team in Brazil. This role involves providing top-notch legal advice to key stakeholders in Brazil and across LATAM, managing the Brazilian legal team, and playing a crucial part in Ebury's expansion throughout the region. The successful candidate will have the chance to engage in commercial affairs (especially finance-related), various other legal matters, and contribute to the personal development. Reporting directly to the General Counsel.

This position will be located in São Paulo, Brazil.

Key responsibilities for you and members of the legal team include:

  • drafting and negotiating agreements to support Ebury's business activities with third parties and within the organization;
  • contributing to the development of new products and entry into new markets;
  • leading strategic initiatives such as negotiations with banking partners and M&A activities;
  • advising on agreements with customers, including foreign exchange and lending agreements;
  • collaborating with various departments to address daily inquiries;
  • representing Ebury in dealings with clients, counterparties, banking partners, and industry organizations;
  • creating templates, playbooks, and participating in training programs;
  • assisting the General Counsel in achieving the Legal Department's goals, sharing expertise, and mentoring junior team members;
  • supervising all legal team members in the region.

Key skill requirements comprise:

  • a proactive approach and effective communication skills with stakeholders at all levels;
  • Brazilian qualified lawyer with experience in lending, derivatives, or regulatory law;
  • team management experience and improving legal governance within the organization;
  • minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience, either in private practice or in-house;
  • interest in the fintech industry and financial products;
  • ability to prioritize and manage various tasks in a fast-paced environment;
  • proficiency in both Portuguese and English is a must.
