Position Summary:


Our team at Shein Brazil is currently seeking a Corporate Counsel for Labor and Employment who is an organized self-starter to partner with the business and provide legal advice, guidance and support for labor litigation, employment and union relations matters. In this role, you will be a thought partner to the business and manage all litigation and employment matters, collaborating to mitigate risk and promote our company culture. As Corporate Counsel for Labor and Employment, you will report to the Associate General Counsel in Brazil.


Responsibilities:


  • Strategically manage all litigation matters and pre-litigation disputes and advise on strategy and resolution of matters, including healthcare, corporate and employment litigation
  • Be responsible for developing and assessing case strategies, conducting and managing interviews of fact and expert witnesses, handling discovery requests and third party subpoenas and reviewing court filings
  • Work cross-functionally with teams to mitigate litigation risk and to ensure compliance with litigation and regulatory obligations
  • Collaborate with external counsel to efficiently manage all aspects of litigation, employment and other related matter
  • Advise HR on day-to-day employee lifecycle issues, such as hiring, leaves/accommodations, compensation and benefits, termination and other organizational matters
  • Support and advise HR regarding Union Relation matters and negotiation of Annual Union Bargain
  • Partner with HR and Compliance on employee policies, handbooks, training and education
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant laws and provide recommendations and guidance on the potential impact of new or existing regulations and current policies and practices
  • Support the broader legal team on other matters as needed


Skills and Qualifications:


  • Law degree from recognized law school in Brazil. Qualification to practice law and membership in good standing in the bar (OAB);
  • 10+ years of litigation, labor, employment and union experience post law school in a top law firm or in-house at a retail or consumer goods company, or combination of the two (fashion retail litigation experience preferred);
  • English level fluent, Spanish and Mandarim will be a plus;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships with stakeholders;
  • Demonstrate communication and collaboration skills with an ability to manage and influence stakeholders in a matrix environment effectively;
  • Exercise good judgment and make decisions that is appropriate for the organization;
  • Results-driven, take initiative and ownership to accomplish work;
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and embrace change in a dynamic, rapidly growing environment;
