MYP Design Teacher

St. Nicholas is looking for an experienced Design Teacher to join our Secondary section, starting in late July 2026. We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply, to support our students’ learning journey in this exciting field.
Main responsibilities within the role:
- To plan and deliver dynamic and student-centred lessons where the design cycle is an integral component.
- To collaborate with the Design Technology department and wider teaching body, planning disciplinary and interdisciplinary units and lessons for grades 6-10.
- To contribute to the development of an MYP Design Thinking programme and implement this methodology and other innovative practices to foster interdisciplinary understanding.
- To be part of a growing department where teachers value sharing ideas, resources, and experiences.
- To contribute to the Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) programme and PSHE curriculum in a way that reflects your experience and interests.
- To assist in curriculum development, ensuring it aligns with the school’s inquiry-based philosophy and values.
- To comply with and support the school’s safeguarding practices, including e-Safety and child protection policies.
Required Skills and Attributes:
- A relevant degree in Design (Graphic, Product or Digital), Architecture, Arts, Engineering, Education, or a related field.
- Experience teaching Design or related subjects.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with Design, Maker Spaces and DIY culture, as well as classroom pedagogy.
- A commitment to inquiry-based learning and alignment with the school’s vision and mission.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and stimulating international environment.
- Desirable: experience with the IB MYP programme.
