The British School, Rio de Janeiro (TBSRJ) is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual for the position of Deputy Head of Secondary, Pastoral. This is a pivotal leadership role, demanding a strong commitment to student welfare and the ability to cultivate an environment where all students feel valued, supported, and able to thrive both academically and personally.
The successful candidate will lead the team of Heads of Year, ensuring that pastoral care strategies are effectively implemented to promote a positive, inclusive, and nurturing school atmosphere. A key aspect of this role is overseeing student well-being, addressing individual needs, and upholding high standards of pastoral support across the Secondary School.
In addition to managing the Heads of Year team, the Deputy Head of Secondary, Pastoral will work closely with the Head of Inclusion, the Educational Psychologist, and the school's Designated Safeguarding Leads. This collaboration will ensure that all students, particularly those needing additional support, receive the best possible care and guidance while rigorously adhering to safeguarding practices.
As part of the Secondary School Leadership Team, you will collaborate with the Head of School, the Brazilian Director, the Deputy Head of Secondary, Academic, and the Deputy Head of Secondary, International Baccalaureate, contributing to the overall leadership and strategic direction of the Secondary School.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and proactive leader, with a genuine passion for student welfare and a proven track record of building strong relationships with staff, students, and parents. A commitment to upholding and promoting the school's values and ethos is essential, as is the ability to inspire others and lead by example in fostering a positive and respectful school culture.
