Director of Accounting and Finance

$120,000 - 150,000

A Continuum Care Retirement Community (CCRC) with an affordable housing component seeks a hands-on Director of Accounting and Finance to lead all aspects of financial management. This role reports directly to senior leadership and works closely with a newly restructured board and administrative team. Candidates should be comfortable in a lean environment and bring strong technical expertise and judgment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present monthly financial statements, board reports, and forecasts
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and cash management
  • Oversee internal team (2)
  • Coordinate and manage third-party vendors handling revenue cycle, billing, and accounts payable
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, HUD, and Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement requirements
  • Lead the preparation for annual audits and cost reports
  • Develop and monitor budgets, cash flow projections, and variance analysis
  • Maintain internal controls and financial policies to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Partner with leadership on financial strategy, risk management, and operational planning
  • Serve as finance point of contact for board finance committee and auditors

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in finance/accounting leadership (healthcare or affordable housing preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance standards
  • Comfort in leading presentations to sr leadership
  • Familiarity with reimbursement models (Medicare/Medicaid), HUD reporting, and nonprofit finance
