Like Google's own ambitions, the work of a Software Engineer (SWE) goes beyond just Search. SWE Managers have technical expertise to lead major projects and manage a team of engineers. You will optimize your own code and ensure your team can do the same. Manage project goals, contribute to product strategy, and develop your team. SWE teams work across various areas such as information retrieval, AI, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, and UI design. As a manager, you will guide your team in operating at scale and speed.

Join us to help advance Access Security and reduce Insider Risk at Google by building and scaling access infrastructure technologies including Access Security AI Agents, HttpSp, NUAC, Tool Proxy, and Unshelled. Our architecture spans the back-end stack, including storage, microservices, AI Agents, and interfaces. We collaborate with teams across ASI, Core, Cloud, and other Product Areas, including UI, UX, and Technical Writers.

In this role, you will contribute as a people manager and technical leader, drive architectural decisions, work with partner teams, and stay engaged with AI technology. The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products, owning design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure, impacting technical decisions across the company.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and grow a team of software engineers to develop and deploy company-wide AI-based access security features.
  • Participate in designing and implementing AI Agents, infrastructure, and integrations.
  • Promote the latest technology and best practices in building AI Agents and security applications across the organization.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration. Work closely with engineers, product managers, and partner teams to deliver high-quality AI products and features.
  • Identify and mitigate technical, resourcing, and scheduling risks in collaboration with other leaders and stakeholders.
