The Global DBA Engineer role is responsible for the performance, integrity, security, and availability of databases within the organization. The role includes strategic and operational duties such as data storage, access reliability, and protection against data loss or unauthorized access. The DBA will work closely with terminal and regional infrastructure teams to maintain standards, implement backup and recovery policies, and perform database tuning and performance monitoring to support business continuity and system optimization.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Experience mainly in SQL-Server.
  • Install and maintain database server performance.
  • Implement HA scenarios, AON, replication.
  • Knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, performance standards.
  • Develop processes to optimize database security.
  • Set and maintain database standards.
  • Manage database access.
  • Perform database performance tuning.
  • Install, upgrade, and manage database applications.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.
  • Respond to urgent issues to support terminal operations.
  • Identify root causes of outages and prepare plans for permanent fixes or SOPs.
  • Recommend and adopt emerging database technologies.
  • Create and manage reports, visualizations, dashboards.
  • Automate repetitive database tasks.
  • Collaborate on N4 migrations and upgrades.
  • Document deployment plans.
  • Provide on-call support as needed.
  • Valuable Oracle DBA experience.
  • Support 24/7 operations for N4 and related applications globally.

The responsibilities are not exhaustive and may include other tasks relevant to the role.

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred.
  • Over three years of experience in database administration or related fields.
  • MCSE/MCSA certifications preferred.
  • Experience with Windows Server environments preferred.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish is valuable.
  • Adaptable to different cultures.
  • Willing to travel.
