The Global DBA Engineer role is responsible for the performance, integrity, security, and availability of databases within the organization. The role encompasses strategic and operational duties, including data storage, access reliability, and protection against data loss or unauthorized access. The DBA will collaborate with terminal and regional infrastructure teams to uphold standards, implement backup and recovery policies, and perform database tuning and performance monitoring to support business continuity and system optimization.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Experience mainly in SQL-Server.
  • Install and maintain database server performance.
  • Implement high availability scenarios like AON, replication.
  • Knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards.
  • Develop processes for database security optimization.
  • Set and maintain database standards.
  • Manage database access.
  • Perform database performance tuning.
  • Install, upgrade, and manage database applications.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.
  • Respond to reported issues, escalate critical matters, and support terminal operations.
  • Identify root causes of outages and issues, and develop plans for permanent solutions or SOPs.
  • Recommend and implement emerging database technologies.
  • Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
  • Automate repetitive database tasks.
  • Collaborate with N4 Migration Team on upgrades.
  • Document implementation and deployment plans.
  • Provide on-call support as needed.
  • Valuable Oracle DBA experience is a plus.
  • Provide 24/7 support for N4 and related applications globally, expanding support model to all locations.

The responsibilities are not exhaustive and may include additional tasks relevant to the role.

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred.
  • Over three years of experience in database administration or related fields.
  • MCSE/MCSA certifications preferred.
  • Experience with Windows Server environments preferred.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish is valuable.
  • Adaptable to different cultures.
  • Willing to travel.
