Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Application Modernization Specialist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a background in software architecture and extensive experience leading modernization projects. Expertise in migrating from COBOL to newer programming languages is highly desirable, but we are also open to candidates with a successful track record of transforming other legacy systems into modern technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and execute software modernization projects, ensuring seamless transition from legacy systems to modern, scalable architectures.
  2. Analyze existing legacy codebases to understand business logic, dependencies, and migration risks.
  3. Design and implement solutions that maintain system integrity while improving performance and scalability.
  4. Engage with clients throughout the project to gather requirements, communicate progress, and meet business goals.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  6. Provide technical leadership and guidance during modernization efforts.
  7. Identify and mitigate risks associated with migrations to minimize business disruption.
  8. Document architecture, strategies, and technical details for transparency and knowledge sharing.
  9. Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in software modernization.
Required Skills & Experience
  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
  2. Experience as a Software Architect or Senior Developer focused on modernization projects.
  3. Client delivery experience.
  4. Expertise in migrating legacy systems (preferably from COBOL) to modern languages such as Java, C#, Python.
  5. Deep understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns.
  6. Experience with tools for code analysis, refactoring, and automated testing.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Proficiency in English (C1/C2 level).
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  2. Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
  3. Leadership experience with technical teams of 5+ developers.
  4. Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
