About The TeamAs Nubank continues its global expansion, risk management becomes increasingly complex. The BCO team directly supports the various Business Units in managing their risks in a proactive manner, with the aim of strengthening risk maturity in the 1st Line of Defense.
About The RoleTo support the Business Units in achieving their objectives, BCOs balance risk and business priorities and are hands-on in leading by example. The vision is to empower the 1st line Nubankers to become proactive Risk Owners, ensuring adherence to standards and protecting the interests of the company and stakeholders. The BCOs follow three pillars of focus:
- Processes & Internal Controls: Ensure functions/BUs manage risks through understanding processes and the control environment, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency across lines of defense.
- Governance, Risk & Compliance: Ensure alignment with internal and external regulatory and risk requirements, enabling product and feature development with greater certainty.
- Measuring & Reporting: Develop KPIs to monitor programs and verify that functions/BUs deliver against goals.
- Support/coordinate the business in managing First Line Risk Management activities (onboarding, due diligence, credit and financial analysis on large, corporate and payment institutions, losses & risk events, internal control management, continuous improvement).
- Build relevant governance in a practical and non-bureaucratic way.
- Define and rate the internal control & risk environment.
- Proactively identify risk areas and drive remediation activities.
- Add a risk lens to strategy and product development.
- Drive and complete documentation activities to minimize single points of failure and map processes.
- Product and/or Non-Financial Risk knowledge
- High level SOX knowledge is a plus
- Hands-on, takes ownership where possible
- Independence and proactivity
- Ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization
- Quick learner and good communication skills (concise and clear)
- Wants to improve and challenge the status quo
