About the Role

We are seeking a Storage Management Engineer (SME) for an onsite Residency Program in Brasília, Brazil, to support a leading customer using NetApp technologies. This is a fixed-price, full-time residency role, focused on delivering proactive and reactive operational support, system monitoring, diagnostics, and technical advisement to help the customer maximize the value of their NetApp storage infrastructure.

As a resident engineer, you’ll act as the customer’s trusted advisor on all things NetApp – performing upgrades, monitoring system health, coordinating with global support, and optimizing operations in real time.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and support NetApp Data ONTAP systems and firmware
- Perform storage monitoring using NetApp tools (e.g., Operations Manager)
- Handle hardware diagnostics and part replacement coordination
- Work directly with NetApp Global Support Center (GSC) for escalations
- Document the NetApp environment and changes performed
- Provide proactive service management including:
- Software/hardware release planning
- Bug and patch analysis
- Disaster recovery (DR) support
- Data migration and archival planning
- Participate in change management and customer status meetings
- Provide weekly written reports and act as the customer’s advocate within NetApp
- Assist with automation through scripting (as needed)
- Analyze AutoSupportTM diagnostic data and provide trend reports

Requirements

- Proven experience with NetApp storage technologies and tools
- Hands-on expertise with NetApp ONTAP and system upgrades
- Familiarity with NetApp hardware, diagnostics, and part replacements
- Experience coordinating with support teams (GSC or similar)
- Knowledge of disaster recovery, data migration, and backup strategies
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently and manage customer relationships
- Fluent in English and Portuguese

Nice to Have

- NetApp certifications (NCDA, NCIE)
- Experience in scripting (PowerShell, Python, or others)
- Previous residency or onsite support experience
- Knowledge of third-party systems in hybrid storage environments
