Research Associate – Plant Breeding
East West Seed is a globally renowned leader in the vegetable seed industry, dedicated to improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers through high-quality seeds and innovative agricultural solutions. With a rich legacy of over four decades, we have consistently driven agricultural transformation across the globe, empowering farmers to enhance their productivity and profitability.
We are looking for a Research Associate to support our Tomato Plant Breeding Program in the planning, execution, evaluation and analysis of breeding trials. This role is ideal for early-career professionals who want hands-on exposure to plant breeding, agronomy, and genetics in a structured and collaborative environment.
What you will do
- Support the planning and execution of breeding trials and routine experiments
- Collect, consolidate, and analyze trial data using standard tools
- Manage working seed collections and maintain accurate records in breeding databases
- Contribute to continuous improvement of trial methods and technologies
- Prepare reports and provide regular updates to key stakeholders
- Support training of technicians and field workers on breeding best practices
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental procedures
What we are looking for
- Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Crop Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Breeding, or related fields
- Basic to experienced knowledge in plant breeding, agronomy, genetics, and experimental design
- Availability to travel
- Basic knowledge of statistics and data analysis
- Computer literacy and ability to work with digital tools
- Good communication skills in Portuguese and English
