Porto Alegre, State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil MAVI Tempo integral
About MAVI MAVI places experienced finance and accounting professionals into senior, high-ownership roles at high-growth US companies. We maintain a deliberately high bar on both sides of the placement. The companies we partner with are venture-backed and private equity-backed businesses building modern finance organizations, and the professionals we represent are operators with a track record of owning the numbers rather than supporting them from a distance. Our team has built and scaled finance functions at companies including Lyft, Ramp, and SoftBank. We remain closely involved throughout the relationship, from role alignment and interview preparation through onboarding, placement, and long-term career development. The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Manager to run the accounting operation for US-based client companies, working remotely from Brazil. This is a senior management seat reporting to the Controller or Head of Accounting, and it remains substantively hands-on. You will manage the close, manage the accounting team, and hold first-line accountability for the accuracy of what the function produces before it reaches final review. Where a client has outgrown the processes that carried it this far — a close held together by one person's memory, a revenue schedule maintained outside the ledger, a reconciliation that has not been cleared in three quarters — you will be the person who fixes them and writes down how they now work. You will work closely with the finance leadership, and directly with the operators whose decisions depend on your numbers. A significant part of the role is translating accounting information into something people outside finance can act on, and doing so before they ask for it. Because your team sits outside the United States and the leadership you report to does not, the role calls for someone who runs their area without needing to be managed through it, escalates early rather than at review, and holds both the technical detail and the operating picture across a time difference. What You'll Own The Close and Financial Reporting
- The close. Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close end to end, with accountability for the calendar, the quality of the output, and the cycle time.
- The financial statements. Prepare the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statement under US GAAP for Controller review, and answer for the numbers your team produced.
- Review. Provide first-line review over journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules, and send nothing upward you have not satisfied yourself on.
- Revenue. Maintain revenue recognition under ASC 606, including the schedules and the deferred revenue roll-forward, and prepare the judgements behind them for review.
- Consolidation. Prepare multi-entity accounting, intercompany balances, eliminations, and foreign currency translation.
- Reporting packages. Prepare the monthly and quarterly reporting packages and variance analysis that leadership and investors rely on, with root-cause commentary rather than a restatement of the variance. Controls, Policy, and Audit
- Policies and controls. Maintain and enforce accounting policies, internal controls, and approval workflows, and recommend changes where the current design no longer fits the company's stage.
- Documentation. Build and maintain the close checklist, process narratives, and standard operating procedures that allow the function to run without depending on any single individual — including you.
- Audit. Manage the annual audit or review day to day, including PBC preparation, direct response to auditor queries, and resolution of findings, escalating significant matters to the Controller.
- External partners. Act as the day-to-day point of contact for US tax advisers and outsourced bookkeeping partners, holding them to agreed standards and deadlines. Accounting Operations and Team
- The transactional cycle. Manage the general ledger, AP, AR, payroll accounting, and expense processing, holding each to defined turnaround and accuracy standards.
- Reconciliations. Own the balance sheet reconciliation process and the resolution of ageing items, rather than the reporting of them.
- Cash reporting. Prepare accurate cash reporting and the rolling cash forecast.
- The accounting team. Manage, review, mentor, and develop the accounting staff and bookkeepers reporting to you, and give the Controller an honest read on where each person stands.
- Finance systems. Lead ERP implementation and migration workstreams across NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, and comparable platforms, and support platform selection. What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including direct management of accounting staff
- Demonstrated ownership of a full close cycle and the financial statements on an independent basis, rather than contribution to someone else's
- Strong command of US GAAP, with genuine depth in revenue recognition (ASC 60
