Platform Engineering Manager

The Platform Engineering Manager leads the team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the foundational systems, tooling, and automation that enable product and service teams to deliver software efficiently, securely, and reliably. This role blends strong technical leadership with people management, helping shape internal developer platforms (IDPs), paved paths, and infrastructure governance across the organization. Responsibilities: Platform & Technical Leadership Drive the vision, strategy, and implementation of the company’s Internal Developer Platform (IDP) and core infrastructure services. Define and enforce standards related to CI/CD, observability, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), policy-as-code, and service lifecycle management. Lead architectural discussions for cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid/on-prem integrations. Oversee automation initiatives, container orchestration (Kubernetes), and developer productivity tooling. Partner with product, SRE, and security teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and compliance. Team Leadership & Culture Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing team of platform and DevOps engineers. Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and technical excellence. Define career paths, support development plans, and conduct performance reviews. Promote cross-team collaboration and alignment on engineering standards and goals. Operational Excellence Own SLAs, uptime, and cost efficiency for shared platform components. Establish monitoring, alerting, and incident management processes. Implement capacity planning, cost optimization, and proactive infrastructure management. Define metrics and dashboards to measure platform adoption, reliability, and developer experience. Strategic Alignment Translate business priorities into platform initiatives that improve delivery speed and reduce risk. Contribute to multi-year technology roadmaps and budget planning for platform operations. Evaluate new technologies and vendors to enhance the internal platform ecosystem. Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to balance speed, safety, and governance. Requirements: Proven experience leading platform, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering teams. Strong background in cloud architecture (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and modern infrastructure practices. Expertise in CI/CD, automation, observability, and Infrastructure as Code. Solid understanding of Kubernetes and large-scale container orchestration. Experience defining engineering standards and driving organization-wide technical initiatives. Ability to communicate clearly with technical teams, leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders. Demonstrated experience managing technical talent and fostering high-performance engineering cultures.
