Software Developer - Energy Management Systems (EMS)
Hönö, Gothenburg | Berg PropulsionWould you like to develop software that contributes to the future of electrified and energy-efficient shipping? We are looking for a Software Developer within Energy Management Systems (EMS) who wants to work at the intersection of software, automation, power electronics, and marine technology.
At Berg Propulsion, you will develop solutions that manage and optimize electrical energy and power onboard vessels. You will be part of an experienced development team and have the opportunity to follow your work throughout the entire process - from system design and programming to testing and commissioning onboard.
About Berg Propulsion
Berg Propulsion develops propulsion and energy solutions for the global marine industry, with a strong focus on innovation, technical excellence, and more efficient and sustainable shipping.
At our Hönö site, engineers from different disciplines work closely together to develop complete solutions for the vessels of the future. Software is becoming an increasingly important part of our systems, particularly as electrification and the use of battery and energy storage solutions continue to grow.
About the Role
As a Software Developer within Energy Management Systems, you will contribute to the development of our next generation of onboard energy and power management solutions.
Your main focus will be software development in C and C++ in a Linux environment, but the role extends well beyond programming. You will work throughout the entire development lifecycle - from requirements, system design, and architecture to implementation, integration, testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
Our systems interface with battery systems, power electronics, propulsion systems, and other onboard control systems. This means you will work closely with software, hardware, and the complete system, giving you the opportunity to see how your solutions perform in real-world operation.
You will join a software team of approximately 17 developers with different levels of experience and technical specializations. You will also collaborate closely with engineers within automation, electrical systems, propulsion, and systems engineering, as well as colleagues across R&D, Contract, and Production.
In this role, you will: Develop and maintain software for Linux-based Energy Management Systems. Design and implement functionality in C and C++.Help shape how our systems and their functions are designed and operate.
Develop interfaces and communication with battery systems, power electronics, and other onboard ntribute to system architecture and software design.
Perform software and system testing, verification, and validation.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
Develop and maintain HMI functionality and system ntribute to test environments, simulation, and automated testing.
Support integration and commissioning in laboratory environments and onboard ntribute technical expertise to the development of future energy and power management solutions.
The role may involve international travel to shipyards, vessels, customers, and partners in connection with integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
