Distinguished Software Engineer

Canonical seeks an accomplished Technical Leader to spearhead a globally distributed team of engineers. As the Engineering Manager for Ubuntu Server, you will be responsible for defining the vision and strategy for this critical software component.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a high-performing team of engineers, focusing on talent development through coaching, mentoring, and career advancement.
- Collaborate with Product Management to drive the product roadmap and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Establish and manage expectations with cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
- Advocate for modern software development practices and evangelize best-in-class engineering methodologies.
- Oversee the quality of the Ubuntu Server image family and plan/deliver new features.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers (3+ years).
- Knowledgeable and passionate about software development, with a strong track record of driving innovation.
- Experience working in agile development environments and familiar with modern GNU/Linux distributions (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
- Practical experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or Amazon Web Services) is a plus.
