Subsurface Technology Leader Position

This role is focused on leading research and development projects in geophysics, collaborating with third parties to meet R&D Levy obligations and align with strategic goals.

The successful candidate will have expertise in multiple geophysical areas, including acquisition, processing, interpretation, and 4D seismic. Strong problem framing skills are essential for identifying needs and developing technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead geophysical R&D projects, providing technical guidance to maximize value.
  • Manage projects to meet Shell requirements, supported by commercial, finance, and portfolio specialists.
  • Oversee activities such as laboratory setup, fieldwork, and data collection.
  • Identify and formulate new project opportunities and partnerships supporting business and energy transition goals.
  • Develop best practices and promote safety in projects and laboratories.
Requirements:
  • Post-graduate degree in a subsurface science or engineering field preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in geophysics-related roles in industry or research.
  • Experience in multiple geophysical areas: acquisition, processing, interpretation, 4D seismic.
  • Strong communication skills in English for stakeholder engagement.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to build sustainable partnerships.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and willingness to expand beyond own discipline.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and safety standards.
Additional Information:

Legally authorized to work full-time in Brazil. Knowledge of Brazilian oil/gas fields is advantageous. Understanding of Brazil's R&D ecosystem is desirable.
