Senior Well Engineering Workover Specialist

Are you passionate about planning and designing wells with innovative technology? As a senior well engineer in our integrated services team, you will be responsible for all tasks related to well intervention and abandonment projects. Your focus will be on well interventions and abandonment design, casing programs, operational efficiency, and rig selection.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all engineering activities align with health safety and environment (HSE) policies and procedures, driving HSE culture through safe work practices.
  • Conduct business according to our company's culture pillars.
  • Participate in tender bid preparation processes for well engineering input.
  • Deliver customer presentations and lead meetings, including travel to other locations.
  • Prepare and review well designs, well plans, and operational procedures for intervention and/or abandonment of wells in your area of responsibility.
  • Define technical rig requirements.
  • Define technical services and third-party requirements.
  • Prepare and review operational time and well cost estimates.
  • In collaboration with internal and external parties, prepare risk registers and contingency plans.
  • Prepare, participate in, and lead peer reviews, peer assists, and other quality assurance activities related to the project.
  • Monitor daily progress of jobs or projects and monitor operations expenditure.
  • Provide engineering recommendations and advice to the project team.
  • Evaluate and implement best practices and technological advancements to integrated solutions operations.
  • Communicate effectively with well site/project stakeholders as needed and make recommendations to drive flawless service delivery and operational excellence.
  • Ensure that pre-defined technical and operations key performance indicators (KPIs) are monitored and benchmarked against offset well data and pre-defined well objectives.
  • Participate, lead, and ensure root cause analysis investigations are completed, and lessons learned are recorded and shared within the team.
  • Develop and update technical content for company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver all technical reports related to the project, including end-of-well reports, after-action reviews, lessons learned summaries, and risk analyses.
  • Comply with data management according to integrated solutions procedures.
  • Participate and contribute in project and center of excellence (CoE) team meetings and strategy discussions.
  • Keep abreast of technological and engineering process advancements through affiliation with professional societies and participation in networks, workshops, seminars, and training courses.
  • Ensure that engineering and operational achievements and challenges are captured through case histories, lessons learned, or papers, and shared with the global team.
  • Mentor and coach engineering team members.
  • You may manage an engineering team.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering or mechanical/chemical engineering with further education in petroleum/oil & gas or well engineering.
  • Relevant work experience in well construction, completions, intervention, and/or optimization, including competences such as drill bits/mills, BHA design, engineering simulations, field operations, preparation of programs, or similar (10 years).
  • Well control knowledge.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work well with colleagues across all businesses/cultures, achieve objectives through effective influencing, and establish credibility with senior leaders.
  • Excellent analytics and problem-solving, including ability to form hypotheses and move forward in the absence of complete information.
  • Excellent Portuguese and English oral and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize complex topics into clear and simple messages.
  • Experience in MS Office suite, Power BI, or other analytical tools, well engineering and design software (for example: hydraulics, torque and drag, casing/tubing design).
  • Demonstrate previous relevant well delivery experience with multi-disciplined teams.
  • Demonstrate well control awareness.
  • Geo-mechanics knowledge.
  • Able to deliver continuous improvement in well design and operational performance.

Desirable knowledge of technical regulations for well integrity management systems is also beneficial.
