Job Description

The Senior Construction Project Manager will be based full-time at our site in Campinas surroundings, supporting the DCD Area in controlling project execution. Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and chairing client meetings, ensuring DCD, DCE and DCOPs are informed.
  • Reporting on a weekly basis to the DCD PM on scope, budget and schedule status, and any issues arising related to construction contracts.
  • Liaising with the Client, Professional Team and Contractor to establish key project processes and monitor these processes, reporting and making recommendations to the Client.
  • Engaging in FAT/SAT attendance and vendor attendance to site as appropriate.
  • Liaising with the Client, Professional Team, Engineer of Record, A/E and Contractors to establish, review and regularly update the Project Risk Register. Agree and monitor Risk Mitigation Plans and provide input into quantitative risk analysis reviews.
  • Initiating actions/escalations such as acceleration programs for tasks falling behind and impacting critical path.
  • Monitoring and reporting on Commissioning process, checking that the Commissioning Agent has developed a Commissioning Plan and all necessary test sheets and documentation.
  • Liaising with the DC Operations team to coordinate their involvement in all installation, commissioning, and snagging activities.
  • Coordinating all parties to complete Practical Completion documentation and that all manuals are submitted and approved to an agreed schedule.
  • Establishing and managing the defect identification and resolution process, and monitoring all handover activity to Client's Turn-Over process.
  • Liaising with Integration Lead to develop and manage the Integration plan.
  • Coordinating processes of issuance of RFI's, submittals, transmittals and other documents that must be revised and approved by the A/E or the EoR on time, so the schedule does not get impacted.

The Senior Construction Project Manager is also expected to support the DCD Project Manager with:

  • Driving LLE, M&E and other technical design issues through to completion.
  • Monitoring and reporting on OFCI LLE and other construction coordination on site.
  • Preparing reports for Client's stakeholders on LLE and M&E vendor issues.
  • Preparing and issuing for the DCD PM's approval a monthly Project Manager's report, weekly status update reports and providing input into other stakeholder reports and presentations as may be required.
  • Providing supporting information for the DCD PM's input into Payment Application Reports and assisting the Cost Manager to present these for approval to Client's management.
  • Supporting the change management process by liaising with the Client, Professional Team, and Contractor in clarifying all necessary scopes, justification, and technical detail.
  • Liaising with the Professional Team around time/scope impacts assessments, and validity for change or variation events.
  • Reporting on General Contractor and vendor adherence to the Commissioning tagging process.
  • Coordinating MOP elaboration and revision with the GC and Safety areas.
  • Assisting to identify early warning of construction, Mechanical and Electrical risks, and issues.
  • Monitoring site works and recording and reporting non-conforming work and driving the team for follow-up, preventative, and close-out actions.
  • Managing the General Contractor to undertake regular site Mechanical and Electrical quality audits and witnessing site tests as may be necessary.
  • Chairing and managing risk workshops.
  • Establishing and managing risk and change management processes and promoting project team compliance to project process.
  • Monitoring and using reasonable endeavors to manage the General Contractor in line with company health and safety standards. Revising MOPs.
  • Managing the General Contractor to prepare all necessary schedules for the handover of the project and liaising with Integration Manager, Commissioning Manager and DC Operations Manager on agreement with the schedules.
  • Managing the General Contractor in timely preparation of system start-up books and Operations and Maintenance Manuals.
  • Managing the General Contractor in the preparation and room handover documentation with input as necessary from the Architect Engineer.
  • Promoting a team approach to punch-list development using the tools made available for the project.
  • Liaising with DC Operations / Security Operations and checking that systems and permits are in place to enable General Contractor to access the site and complete any necessary remedial works post lock-down and turn-over.
  • Informing and monitoring the General Contractor's compliance to DC Operations / Security Operations processes during execution of post turn-over works.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Lean Construction Certification and/or PMP Certification is a plus.

Experience/Skills/Education:

  • Over 7 years' experience in similar responsibilities.
  • Mission critical experience a plus.
  • Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills in Portuguese and English are mandatory.
