Job Overview

This role is for an experienced systems programmer who can plan, install, configure, and implement z/OS. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of z/OS, SMP/E, TCPIP, RACF, JCL, ISPF, SMS, z/OSMF, IODF, IOCDS, FICON, control units, and z/OS configuration best practices.

The successful candidate will also have experience with programming languages such as REXX, high-level assembler, and Python. Familiarity with Ansible, OpenShift, Jira, and Problem/Change process is also desirable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, install, configure, and implement z/OS.
  • Install, migrate, monitor, secure, and enable z/OS.
  • Plan, configure, and implement z/OS for continuous availability across planned or unplanned outages of any single hardware or software element.
  • Plan, install, test, and implement z/OS service level upgrades and patches.
  • Plan and implement configuration changes to enhance z/OS performance.
  • Create and deploy z/OS operating system.
  • Plan and implement support for disaster recovery.
  • Provide technical assistance to programmers and end users.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or substantial equivalent experience.
  • 8-10 years of experience as a z/OS systems programmer.
  • Advanced knowledge of z/OS, z/OS UNIX System Services, SMP/E, TCPIP, RACF, JCL, ISPF, SMS, z/OSMF, IODF, IOCDS, FICON, control units, and z/OS configuration best practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of programming languages such as REXX, high-level assembler, and Python.
  • Experience or familiarity with Ansible, OpenShift, Jira, and Problem/Change process.
  • Good communication skills both written and oral.
