Engineering Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned engineering leader to drive community engagement and growth across our organization. As the Engineering Director of Community, you will have a broad impact on building the next generation of open source community.

The ideal candidate will have a long history and clear public record of community engagement, particularly with open source communities. They will be capable of representing us externally, leading successful projects and teams, and articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

The role involves collaborating proactively with multiple distributed teams, establishing and achieving community engagement goals, and influencing others to represent technical insight to customers and other engineers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with various teams to broaden community engagement activities
  • Ensuring all engineering teams make community an important aspect of their work
  • Providing assistance to new and existing contributors seeking to get involved or expand their role
  • Connecting community contributors with mentors and organizing cross-team participation in community events
  • Assisting the Ubuntu community team in ensuring high-quality community processes are consistently implemented
