We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Database Administrator to manage our mission-critical databases in a fast-paced microservices ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise managing MySQL database environments in production and a strong background in SQL performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Management: Ensure the performance, scalability, observability, and availability of our databases.
  • MySQL Administration: Maintain and optimize MySQL instances running in AWS, ensuring reliability and zero downtime.
  • High Availability: Design and implement HA and disaster recovery strategies using Aurora Clusters, Replication, Snapshots, and Backups.
  • SQL Development: Write and review SQL queries, procedures, and indexing strategies to optimize workloads.
  • Database Migrations: Perform database migrations between versions, platforms, or environments without downtime.
  • Automation: Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, Shell Script, and AWS CLI.
  • Observability: Enable observability and alerting using tools like CloudWatch, Performance Insights, custom metrics, and logs.
  • Security: Define access controls, user privileges, and implement database security best practices.
  • Database Optimization: Plan and lead the segregation of large monolithic databases into smaller, more manageable, scalable schemas.
  • Process Improvement: Propose and implement improvements for database monitoring, automation, and reliability.

About This Role

  • Must have deep experience with MySQL and high-throughput environments.
  • Expert knowledge of MySQL RDBMS internals (v8+).
  • Strong skills in SQL performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
  • Familiarity with GitOps and IaC principles.
  • Working knowledge of AWS Services: Storage & Data, Data Movement & Monitoring.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools and alerting frameworks.
  • Strong ownership and problem-solving mindset.
  • Passion for automation and process improvement.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
