Job Title

This role is focused on building and maintaining internal platforms that support the full lifecycle of container-based applications. You will design, build, and maintain platform tooling that supports the SDLC from build to production release.

You will work at the intersection of software engineering and infrastructure, designing CI/CD workflows, improving container image promotion, enforcing security standards, and streamlining GitOps-based deployment patterns using ArgoCD.

The ideal candidate understands how to reduce developer cognitive load by building tools, automation, and abstractions that scale.

This is not a traditional operations role. We are seeking someone who writes production-quality code and contributes to platform infrastructure as a product.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain platform tooling that supports the SDLC from build to production release.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to improve developer experience and reduce manual effort.
  • Develop, extend, and manage CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.
  • Define and implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Maintain and evolve Kubernetes environments used across development and production workloads.
  • Integrate security and policy controls into platform pipelines.
  • Work with container registries, service mesh (Istio), and GitOps patterns for multi-environment deployment.
  • Provide internal documentation and support to ensure adoption and success of platform tooling.
  • Participate in design reviews, implementation planning, and continuous improvement efforts.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
  • Proficient with Kubernetes, including experience deploying and supporting containerized applications.
  • Strong experience building CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions and/or ArgoCD.
  • Hands-on knowledge of container image promotion workflows, GitOps deployment patterns, and version control best practices.
  • Familiarity with Istio or other service mesh technologies.
  • Clear understanding of cloud-native development and operational tooling.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with developers, Operations teams.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, particularly for pipeline templating and integration with container scanning.
  • Exposure to Backstage.io or internal developer portals.
  • Familiarity with security scanning and compliance enforcement in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of cost management, multi-cluster architecture, or multi-cloud strategy.
  • Experience writing custom tools or CLIs to abstract complexity from developers.
Coachables/Growth Areas:
  • Limited Istio experience but strong Kubernetes fundamentals.
  • Solid CI/CD background in Jenkins or GitLab but willing to transition to GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.
  • Intermediate coding experience but proven ability to learn and ship tools in Python or Go.
  • Some familiarity with GitOps practices and a clear desire to work in a declarative infrastructure environment.
