Job Description

The Pensions Technical Unit at WTW is a team of pension subject matter experts providing strategic advice and implementation support to clients navigating evolving challenges in DB and DC schemes driven by changing policies, legislation, and market developments.

This role involves working within the unit on legislative requirements affecting occupational and personal pension arrangements, sharing responsibilities with other advisors, and taking full responsibility for updating intranet material ensuring it is logically structured and easily accessible.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work within the unit on legislative requirements affecting occupational and personal pension arrangements
  • Share main responsibilities with other pensions experts
  • Take full responsibility for updating intranet material ensuring it is logically structured and easily accessible
  • Analyse new legislation, court cases, and changes to practice to establish what is new and what needs further investigation
  • Write summaries of new developments for consultants and clients
  • Provide telephone, email, and face-to-face enquiry service while prioritising updating work
  • Keep up-to-date on current developments outside areas of specialism
  • Write publications, internal and external headlines, blog posts, and articles for external media as required
  • Participate in internal and external seminars
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A fascination for detail and ability to distinguish the wood from the trees
  • Understanding of legislation and detailed knowledge of DWP, HMRC, TPR, PPF, and other government departments' requirements for occupational, master trust, and personal pension arrangements
  • Willingness to widen knowledge to areas outside the area of specialism including EU legislative material
  • Analytical ability to examine new legislation or requirements to determine issues that need clarification
  • Ability to link separate pieces of information to produce a composite picture
  • Research ability and desire to find answers in source documents
  • Ability to simplify complex material while remaining accurate
  • Good drafting skills
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Clear understanding of knowledge limits and willingness to seek help when needed
  • Ability to prioritise conflicting priorities under pressure and take responsibility
  • Good organisation of self and others
