Immunology Research Opportunities

We are seeking a highly motivated research fellow to contribute to basic and translational immunology based research projects at Howard University College of Medicine.

Research Focus:

  • Investigate the immunopathological contributions to dermatologic diseases through experimental and analytical approaches.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of research protocols for neutrophil isolation, cell culture, protein and nucleic acid isolation, western blot analysis, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), quantitative real-time PCR, tissue biobanking, and other tasks.
  • Explore the role of immune cells in Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) using multiple research approaches.
  • Foster collaborative research efforts to study HS through various methodologies.
  • Conduct comprehensive data analyses and interpretations on proteins, RNA/cDNA, and next generation sequencing/metagenomics.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • MD, PhD, or MD, PhD degree by the time of activation date.
  • Strong foundation in basic and molecular laboratory techniques.
  • Excellent written and communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas effectively.
  • Passion for research and its applications in medicine.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to mentor and collaborate with students and researchers.
  • Competence in oral and written English language.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and execute research experiments under the guidance of senior researchers.
  2. Collect, analyze, and interpret data from research experiments.
  3. Collaborate with students and researchers on research projects.
  4. Develop and present reports on research findings.
  5. Participate in grant writing and manuscript development.
