The Campus Security Operations Team is seeking a qualified professional to assume the role of Shift Supervisor within the Howard University Campus Police Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure campus environment.
Primary Responsibilities:- Supervise a shift composed of Campus Police Patrol Officers, Security Officers, and contract service personnel, ensuring effective coordination and direct supervision to maintain a safe and secure campus environment.
- Manage shift operations, training, and oversee patrol activities; directing traffic, controlling crowds, and securing facilities to ensure optimal security outcomes.
- Interpret and disseminate policies, procedures, and directives from the Department and federal/municipal governments, providing clear guidance to team members.
- Prepare and review administrative reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness to support informed decision-making.
- High School Graduate or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- Five (5) years of responsible work experience in law enforcement or security, with two (2) years at a supervisory level, demonstrating progressive leadership skills.
- Training in an accredited college or university in criminal justice or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and training, showcasing expertise in security operations.
- Possession of Special Police Commission with firearm authorization for the District of Columbia, adhering to all relevant regulations.
