Job Purpose: This position performs office management and administrative work, controlling office workflow and established procedures in support of the department.

  • Responsible for orienting and training others along with reviewing work
  • May also be responsible for acting in a lead or senior capacity over other positions performing essentially the same work

Key Responsibilities: Control workflow of the office, prepare requests for authorizations, answer inquiries on general and technical matters, enter personnel and financial documents, supervise scheduling of meetings and conferences, coordinate logistics of events, obtain bids and price quotes from vendors, monitor inventory of supplies, create and manage office filing systems, receive and screen mail for the department

Core Competencies: Advanced knowledge of office and administrative practices and principles, skilled in operation of computers and software applications (MS Office Suite), knowledge of standard office equipment, ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, ability to exercise discretion and ensure confidentiality, ability to establish and maintain effective work relations and work collaboratively toward shared objectives

Experience navigating policy requirements in an academic environment. Ability to provide and receive direct feedback. Familiarity with HBCU student populations and culture is desired.
