The role of Special Collections Librarian is a vital position within the School of Law Library.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement archival and special collections according to best practices and industry standards.
- Provide exceptional reference services, foster relationships with alumni, community organizations, and promote special collections and archives through engaging activities.
- Lead library specialists and student library research assistants to achieve team goals.
- Assess material condition, initiate repairs, and digitize as necessary to preserve collection integrity.
- Evaluate potential donations, recommending acceptance or rejection based on their relevance and value to the collection.
- Prepare documents for transferring or adding collection materials, ensuring accurate administrative records.
- Effectively accession new materials into the collection, update finding aids, and maintain a high level of organization.
- Monitor and report on collection usage to inform strategic decisions.
- A Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library and information science program (or equivalent) is required.
- The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, ability to work effectively with diverse communities, model positive responses to challenges, and demonstrate strong project management skills.
- Collaborative mindset, independence, and a service-oriented approach are essential for success in this role.
