Howard University's Faculty Practice Plan clinics require a skilled Patient Services Representative Apprentice. This entry-level position focuses on patient services and is designed for graduates of the Youth Apprenticeship Program.
The successful candidate will provide exceptional support to healthcare professionals by accurately verifying and updating patient demographic information, managing appointments, and handling financial transactions. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with clinical staff and ensuring smooth clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Verify and update patient demographic information using internal systems and insurance portals
- Manage patient appointments and hospital orders in accordance with schedule advisor guidelines
- Collect and document co-pays and co-insurance, reconcile cash drawers, and ensure accurate financial transactions
- Provide administrative support to clinical staff on pre-visit planning and audit physician schedules
- Graduate of the Youth Apprenticeship Program (YAP) at Howard University Faculty Practice Plan
- High school diploma from a District of Columbia public or charter school
- Commitment to obtaining Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification within three years of employment
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
