Healthcare Administrative Assistant Apprentice

This position offers a dynamic opportunity for individuals to gain hands-on experience in patient services, healthcare administration, and patient interaction.
Key Responsibilities:- Verify and update patient demographic information and insurance coverage using internal systems and portals.
- Schedule and manage patient appointments, hospital orders, and visit types according to schedule advisor guidelines.
- Collect and document co-pays and co-insurance, reconcile cash drawers, and ensure accurate financial transactions.
- Manage incoming correspondence, including sorting faxes and general communications, to support clinic operations.
- Collaborate with clinical staff on pre-visit planning and audit physician schedules to ensure proper authorization and management of overbooked appointments.
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Graduate of the Youth Apprenticeship Program.
- High school diploma from a District of Columbia public or charter school.
- Commitment to obtaining Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification within three years of employment.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred.
