Project Management Specialist

The role of Project Management Specialist involves managing part of a portfolio of medium-size and full-size climate change mitigation projects in Latin America and the Caribbean. The specialist will be required to develop and manage projects within the portfolio, ensuring effective implementation and adherence to guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement project plans, ensuring timely completion and budget adherence.
  • Prepare reports on project progress and risk situation for submission to the Task Manager.
  • Review mid-term review (MTR) reports and prepare MTR implementation plans.
  • Provide inputs for facilitating technical and financial closure of projects.
  • Travel to undertake project tasks as required.
Project Documentation:
  • Develop draft legal agreements for new projects and project extensions.
  • Prepare documents for project internalization and revision processes.
  • Prepare project supervision plans and risk logs for projects.
  • Review cash advance requests and provide guidance to executing agencies.
Portfolio Management:
  • Develop and implement measures to enhance the effectiveness of portfolio management tools.
  • Visualize and graphically represent portfolio data for facilitating decision-making.
  • Develop flowcharts for the development, review, and approval of technical and financial documents.
Qualifications/Special Skills:
  • Advanced university degree in project management, engineering, law, business administration, environmental management or policy, economics, development, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in managing projects related to climate change, environment, or development.
  • Experience in reviewing project documents, progress reports, work plans, and financial documents.
  • Experience working with national governments of Latin America and the Caribbean is required.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of GEF, GCF, CDM, or UNEP projects is desirable.
  • Experience working for multilateral or bilateral funding entities in the field of climate change, environment, and sustainable development is preferred.
