Backend Developer - Data Infrastructure

In our quest to make reading accessible to everyone, we're seeking a skilled Backend Developer to join our Data Infrastructure team. This role will be responsible for designing and maintaining all backend services, including payments, analytics, subscriptions, new products, text-to-speech, and external APIs.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of software development principles, cloud infrastructure, and containerization. They should also possess excellent problem-solving skills, be able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement efficient and scalable backend services using various technologies and frameworks.
  • Collaborate closely with Scientists to deliver richer data at bigger scale and lower cost to power our next-generation models.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality code, ensuring it meets the required standards and adheres to our coding guidelines.
Requirements:
  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in software development, preferably in cloud-based environments.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, and experience with scripting languages like Bash.
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and other containerization tools.
  • Experience with cloud providers, specifically Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
