Senior Storage Solutions Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced senior storage solutions architect to lead our Ceph & Distributed Storage team.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional to shape the future of software-defined storage at Canonical, driving innovation and excellence in our products and services.

  • As a senior storage solutions architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our Ceph-focused software-defined storage solution.
  • You will lead a globally distributed team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and feedback to ensure their growth and development.
  • You'll demonstrate sound engineering principles by directly contributing towards your team's goals, setting schedules based on considered estimates, and managing expectations with other engineering teams and external stakeholders.
  • Advance modern, agile software development practices, maintain a culture of quality and engineering excellence, and grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with our company values.
  • Be an active part of the leadership team, collaborating with other leaders in the organisation to drive business outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Strong background in software engineering, preferably with experience in Python and C++.
  • Proven track record of operating scale-out storage clusters on Linux in production environments, preferably with Ceph.
  • Passion for embracing new technologies and pushing boundaries of what is possible.
  • Experience in leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers towards delivering timely, high-quality software.
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about software development, with solid experience working in an agile development environment.
