About the Role

We are seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team as a Locomotive Design Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for designing electrical systems for locomotives, including point-to-point wiring, schematics, and packaging.

Job Description

The Electrical Integration Engineering team at Wabtec is responsible for developing cutting-edge technology to support the advancement of freight locomotive systems. As a member of this team, you will work on global projects that give exposure to working with senior technologists & leaders.

Your typical day will involve tracking and executing analysis, design, test, or integration required to define, and support assigned components, assemblies, or systems that meet business standards and program/product requirements.

You will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. You will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to affect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Responsibilities
  • Development of concept design, detailed design, and design analysis for locomotive wiring schematics, point-to-point information, wire lists, and components
  • Review and approval of designs developed by Wabtec designers & detailed drawings completed by drafting
  • Ownership of stated technical/safety/cost/reliability/performance requirements for schematic and wire lists plus inputs to mechanical routing, 3D wiring, and packaging design
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Engineering or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Understanding and working experience on electrical schematics and wire list
  • Knowledge of tools like Zuken E3, AutoCAD Electrical, Wilmor, Oracle, Siemens NX, MS Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal skills, good written and oral communication skills
