The Visual Effects Art Lead role requires a strong sense of dramatic effects and the ability to recreate them in a real-time particle editor.

This position involves creating all art needed for visual effects, including FX concept, proto and final FX, with blueprint and Niagara logic, models, textures, materials, camera effects, animations and particles.

  • Deliver high-quality visual effects across various styles from realistic to stylized.
  • Lead and mentor a team of effects artists to achieve cohesive game experience.
  • Collaborate with other discipline teams to produce a unified game experience.
  • Partner with external vendors to onboard and support production of FX outside of Epic Games.
  • Drive the style and feel of Fortnite's FX.
  • Work closely with the production to deliver FX in a timely manner.
Key Requirements:
  • A strong portfolio showcasing executed Real-Time FX work.
  • Critical eye for timing, animation, and motion of real-world objects and visual FX with ability to bring dramatic FX to life with flair.
  • Good instincts for realistic and stylized FX.
  • Ability to create all art needed for the FX.
  • Experience in VFX (games or film) is a must. Shipped AAA game titles is a plus.
  • Familiarity with UE5 or other real-time engine art pipelines is a big plus.
