Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team at SBM Offshore. As an Offshore Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out routine sampling and testing/analysis operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine sampling and testing/analysis operations, including preparing samples, maintaining sample integrity, and conducting tests/analyses.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment, adhering to all necessary conditions and procedures.
  • Ensure that laboratory and field test-equipment is calibrated and maintained, identifying calibration requirements and monitoring adherence.
  • Control stocks of equipment, materials, and chemicals required for laboratory and plant operations, ordering and receiving stock as needed.
  • Communicate information accurately and promptly, processing incoming and outgoing communications and relaying messages and data.
  • Monitor and maintain pollution control measures, identifying and halting unplanned discharges, and enforcing environmental protection and pollution control procedures.
  • Participate in emergency response efforts, carrying out emergency response drills and training exercises.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require a qualification in Chemistry, with 2 years of experience as a Laboratory Technician in the hydrocarbon processing industry. You should have a practical understanding of Permit to Work, Mechanical Standards, and Risk Assessment, as well as medical fitness for offshore work.

We are looking for a positive, assertive, and conscientious individual with strong communication and leadership skills. You should be able to work well with all levels of personnel, and have a good standard of technical and professional knowledge of safety systems and hazards of hydrocarbon and utility systems.
