Job Overview

We are looking for a seasoned professional to join our team as a Communications Engineer.

This role involves providing second-line support for all voice and cloud communication services and platforms, ensuring network availability and quality, performing proactive and reactive maintenance actions, and suggesting improvements in processes.

  • Assure second line support for all BICS Voice & Cloud Communication services and platforms
  • Follow-up network availability and quality
  • Perform proactive and reactive maintenance actions
  • Suggest improvements in the proactive tasks & processes

The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree in Electronics, Computer Sciences, IT, ICT and/or Telecommunications, 3+ years experience in telecom, mainly in voice switching (mobile telecom operators or International carriers), with a focus on provisioning and repair activities.

Strong knowledge and experience in Telecom technologies and ITU/ETSI telecom standards/protocols (SS7/ISUP, VoIP/SIP, RTP, MGCP) is required, as well as good understanding of network switching and routing as related to a Unified Communications and Voice over IP network.

Required Skills
  • Relevant degree in Electronics, Computer Sciences, IT, ICT and/or Telecommunications
  • 3+ years experience in telecom, mainly in voice switching (mobile telecom operators or International carriers)
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Telecom technologies and ITU/ETSI telecom standards/protocols
  • Good understanding of network switching and routing

Unix/Linux basic operational experience is also beneficial.

  • Experience in the (international) Wholesale Telecom Business
  • Knowledge on one of the following topics

    • Ribbon SBC (SBC5K and SWe) and Softswitch
    • NetNumber TITAN
    • LRF (Location Retrieval Function) implementations for emergency call handling
    • FreeSWITCH application server
    • Multiplatform unified communications
    • API technologies
    • SIP Registrar/Authentication mechanisms
    • VoLTE
    • STIR/SHAKEN concepts
    • Unified communication and collaboration platforms (e.g. MS Teams)

Good understanding of telephony concepts (e.g. PBX, circuits, dial plans, routing) is also an advantage.
