Bloomberg News is seeking a skilled journalist to cover the Latin America late shift as a Breaking News Editor in Sao Paulo or New York.
As a Breaking News Editor, you will be the first point of contact for market-moving stories in Brazil and Latin America.
You will monitor a constant flow of information from various sources, including regulatory wires, company websites, and social media, and use strong news judgment to identify stories with potential to move markets.
You will lead the coverage of quarterly earnings for corporate heavyweights like Petrobras and Itau, utilizing cutting-edge tools and automation technology to provide instant context.
This role requires a late-shift editor who can work until around 8:30 p.m. Brazil time and be fluent in English and Portuguese.
We are looking for a team player who can collaborate with Bloomberg reporters and editors across all Latin America bureaus.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Make fast and independent judgment calls on breaking news stories
- Stay poised and focused in a real-time news environment
- Unearth news from traditional and new-media sources
- Utilize machine-learning tools
- Be quick and accurate when writing in both English and Portuguese
- Collaborate with Bloomberg reporters and editors
**Requirements:**
- Fluency in English and Portuguese
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Three to five years of experience covering financial and business news
- Familiarity with social media
- Proven skill at collaborating and working across teams
- Flexibility with hours and assignments
