About the Role

As an Accounting Manager AVP, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the month-end close process. This involves performing tasks such as closing accounts, preparing and submitting reports to regulatory bodies, and managing the balance sheet reconciliation process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing the month end close process, including closing accounts and reconciliations
  • Preparing and submitting reports to local regulators, such as CADOCs 4010, 4016, 4111, 4050, 9010, and 9011
  • Preparation of local financial statements for both bank and holding entities
  • Managing entity-wide balance sheet reconciliation processes (BSRS)
  • Work on reconciliation and GL review processes/projects involving data manipulation and spreadsheets
  • Calculation of amounts and raising relevant general ledger journals for specific accounts
  • Financial and regulatory reporting to group as required
  • Work on projects to automate and streamline areas of the month-end process, including offshoring
Qualifications and Skills
  • Qualified accountant with proficiency in IFRS and Bacen GAAP
  • Ability to understand HSBC's activities, products, processes, and systems
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to analyze data and medium to advanced Excel and database skills
  • Excellent time management and prioritization of work tasks
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and rapid learning capability
  • Experience working in an accounting role for a financial institution
  • English and Portuguese proficiency
  • Accounting degree
