Academic Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Academic Director to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead the academic delivery and excellence in teaching, assessment, and teacher development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic academic direction, developing and continuously improving curricula and teaching resources, and maintaining and raising academic quality standards across the program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Academic Direction: Provide strategic guidance on academic matters, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and improve curricula and teaching resources to meet the needs of learners.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain and raise academic quality standards across the program.

Team Management & Development:
  • Recruitment & Training: Recruit, train, and manage a team of TEFL trainers.
  • Mentorship: Mentor newly qualified trainers with structured onboarding and ongoing support.
  • In-House Training: Deliver in-house training and CPD sessions for teaching and assessment staff.
  • Performance Observation: Observe and assess teacher performance, offering developmental feedback.

Assessment & Quality Assurance:
  • Assessment Rubrics: Design, implement, and maintain clear assessment rubrics aligned with learning objectives.
  • Consistency & Integrity: Monitor assessment consistency and integrity across the teaching team.
  • Timely Feedback: Ensure timely, constructive feedback is provided to learners.

Operational Oversight:
  • Teaching Assignments: Allocate teaching and assessment assignments efficiently.
  • Timetabling: Manage timetabling logistics in line with teacher availability and learner demand.
  • Communication: Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth academic operations.
  • IT Systems: Use IT systems to manage workflows and communication.

Requirements:
  • TEFL Qualification: Hold a recognized TEFL qualification.
  • DELTA or DipTESOL: Possess a DELTA or DipTESOL qualification.
  • Extensive Teaching Experience: Have extensive experience teaching General English to adults online and in-person.
  • Teacher Training: Proven track record in teacher training, mentoring, and academic leadership.
  • Observation & Assessment: Experience observing and assessing teaching practices.
  • Digital Literacy: Strong digital literacy and comfort using educational platforms and IT systems.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to problem-solve and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Previous Academic Leadership: Previous experience as a Director of Studies or similar academic leadership role.
  • Remote Team Management: Experience managing remote teams and asynchronous workflows.
  • Academic Staff Management: Background in recruiting and managing academic staff.
