Job Title:

Nautical Officer
  • The role of a Nautical Officer is to support the Chief Officer in ensuring safety, life-saving and fire-fighting equipment are ready for use.
  • Maintain a safe navigational watch at sea, at anchor and during DP operations.
  • Ensure all life-saving and fire-fighting equipment is properly maintained.
  • Verify that all navigational equipment is functioning correctly.
  • Prepare the bridge for sea as required by regulations and report any defective equipment.
  • Guarantee that all navigational publications and charts are up-to-date and display navigational alerts.
  • Act as Helicopter Landing Officer when necessary, provided valid training is held.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Representative and the Doctor in their duties, including familiarization courses for incoming personnel and other personnel.
  • Assist the HSE Representative in maintaining posted safety posters, distributing safety information and handling Safety Committee matters as Safety Secretary if required.
  • Review Safety Notices, BMOS Circulars files and the BMOS Business Management System (BMS) Amendment file in the current version of the BMOS DRB upon embarkation and disembarkation.
  • Serve as GMDSS Operator.
  • Ensure all navigation equipment is operational. Prepare the Bridge for sea as required by statute and report equipment defects.
  • Collaborate with the Vessel Master in maintaining the BMOS Management System.

Requirements:

Essential Requirements:
  • Highest Education completed in Nautical Sciences.
  • Experience operating DP2 or DP3 vessels.
  • Professional registration required: Certificate of Competence (COC) - II/1 - IV/2.
  • Certificate of Competence (COC) - II/1 - IV/2 Full DP certified by the Nautical Institute in London CIR - 2ON (Second Nautical Officer).

The ideal candidate will possess a certificate of competence and experience operating DP2 or DP3 vessels. They should also have professional registration and certifications in areas such as basic firefighting, personal survival, and first aid.
