Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Management Specialist to join our team in the Atlantic Forest region. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing project management methodologies, best practices, and standards for The Nature Conservancy. This role will support the implementation of key workstreams in the landscape, ensuring maximum value against conservation priorities and targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement project management standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance to implement restoration and carbon projects, using multiple project management methods.
  • Ensure projects are designed and managed in an efficient, cost-effective, and aligned manner.
  • Support the Atlantic Forest Director and team to ensure the Iconic Place program is efficiently described, reported on, and adaptively managed.
  • Collaborate with Science and Policy colleagues to develop project outcomes and targets, and a monitoring and adaptation program.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, training, and oversight related to project management capabilities.
  • Document and share key lessons and good practices.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and relevant professional experience in project management and/or portfolio management.
  • Experience managing diversified and complex workstreams and projects in a changing environment.
  • Professional experience with sustainability or conservation projects.
  • Completed coursework or training on project management principles.
  • Experience managing and tracking multiple projects.
  • Experience managing project teams and working with cross-functional staff.
  • Experience managing scheduling and financial aspects of projects.
  • Experience using project management tools, such as Microsoft Project or equivalent.
  • Fluent verbal and written skills in Portuguese and English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of professional experience managing large and complex projects involving public, private, or mixed funds.
  • Graduate-level course in project management or recognized professional certifications.
  • Experience managing projects in the Atlantic Forest region.
  • Experience working with environmental policies and public administration.
  • Experience supporting the negotiation of complex agreements.
  • Ability to manage and implement complex processes.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experiences.
  • Experience supervising staff, interns, and/or volunteers.
  • Proficiency in interpreting guidelines and manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to negotiate, influence, and persuade.
