Director of Digital EngagementAs the driving force behind our social presence, you will define the voice and tone of multiple sports brands, shape strategies for both traditional and emerging platforms, and play a key role in expanding our global reach.
About the Role
Our organization is seeking an experienced and innovative Director of Digital Engagement to lead the social strategy for our global portfolio of sports websites. This is a dream opportunity for a sports enthusiast with a deep understanding of how to drive engagement, build brand personality, and lead high-performing digital teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy & Execution
- Design and execute effective organic social media strategies across various platforms (Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.)
- Build brand-specific social media identities, ensuring each site reflects its unique niche, voice, and personality
- Identify and capitalise on emerging platforms (Telegram, Reddit, WhatsApp) to grow audience engagement
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor a growing team of social media managers and specialists
- Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and data-informed decision-making
- Implement tools and workflows to optimise digital production and performance
- Performance & Growth
- Define and track KPIs for engagement, referral traffic, community growth, and brand impact
- Leverage analytics to evaluate campaign success and continuously improve performance
- Build vibrant fan communities rooted in authentic sports content and digital storytelling
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven success growing social presence for sports brands across international markets
- Deep understanding of how social media drives referral traffic to editorial or content-driven websites
- Established fundamentals on managing remote, multicultural teams across multiple time zones
- Strong editorial judgment and instinct for what sports fans want in 2025
- Familiarity with a variety of social media tools and publishing technologies
- Fluent in English (professional level); additional languages (especially Portuguese or Spanish) are a plus
- Passion for sports and a knack for translating that into digital community-building
