Project Development Officer

This role is based in the Country Office in Brazil, with a duty station in Brasilia, Division for Operations (DO), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of workshops, study visits, training courses, and events under the project Strengthening the Criminal Justice System Response to Illegal Deforestation.
  • Forge partnerships with stakeholders to obtain and exchange information, working closely with counterparts within UNODC.
  • Participate in field missions, providing support to other Border Management Branch projects in Brazil.
  • Ensure timely completion of reporting deadlines and human rights vetting for project beneficiaries.
  • Collaborate with government counterparts to ensure alignment of UNODC BMB work with government priorities.
  • Lead event organization and manage procurement processes effectively.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff members and project personnel in their work.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in crime prevention and environmental crime, as well as strong teamwork and planning skills. They should also hold an advanced university degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.

Fluency in English and French is required, with experience working in the United Nations system being desirable.
