High Voltage Electrical Specialist Job Overview
This position is responsible for performing routine and non-routine maintenance tasks on 11kV substations.
- Prepare monthly and annual preventive maintenance plans in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Supervise and execute substation preventive maintenance activities.
- Compile and submit monthly preventive maintenance reports.
- Coordinate power outage requests with the electrical department, including affected building numbers.
- Collaborate with public works departments to alter outage dates and times as needed.
- Arrange generators for required panels supplying important facilities or utilities.
- Implement quality, health, safety, and environment policies to ensure employee and equipment safety.
Additionally, this role involves:
- Monitoring substation status before performing high-voltage switching operations.
- Maintaining proper personal protective equipment for self and team members.
- Performing high-voltage switching operations on substation RMUs and consumer intakes.
- Preparing and submitting planned switching operation instructions.
- Supervising and executing substation corrective maintenance activities.
- Analyzing substations to ensure conformity to quality standards.
- Developing corrective maintenance plans to address defects.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in local 11kV substation work.
- High voltage switching authorization certification from the Electricity Distribution Directorate, EWA.
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (high school diploma or equivalent required).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
- Pass employment and deployment qualification requirements, including psychological, medical, dental, drug testing, background checks, etc.
