Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Close the month-end process by performing reconciliations, reviewing general ledger entries and managing balance sheet items.
  • Prepare and submit reports to local regulatory bodies such as CADOCs and financial statements for bank and holding entities.
  • Manage entity-wide balance sheet reconciliation processes and work on projects involving data manipulation and spreadsheet review.
  • Calculate amounts and raise relevant general ledger journals for specific accounts.
  • Provide financial and regulatory reporting to group as required.
  • Work on automating and streamlining areas of the month-end process.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and procedures.
  • Produce and review primary and supplementary data for group reporting.
  • Liaise with business teams and stakeholders to obtain required information.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and produce ad-hoc analysis for senior management.
Required Qualifications

Accounting Expertise:

  • Qualified accountant with proficiency in IFRS and Bacen GAAP.
  • Ability to understand HSBC's activities, products, processes and systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with medium to advanced Excel and database skills.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic with rapid learning capability.
  • Experience working in an accounting role for a financial institution.
Preferred Skills

English and Portuguese proficiency, accounting degree and experience working independently using own initiative.
