Cloud Data Engineer Role Overview

This position involves designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data systems that utilize cloud-based infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering principles, with experience working on complex projects from conception to deployment.

Responsibilities:
  • Design scalable data architectures: Develop end-to-end solutions using Azure services, ensuring scalability, performance, and security requirements are met.
  • Develop and automate data pipelines: Build efficient pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, or other ETL tools, integrating data from various sources.
  • Model and optimize data: Design data models and schemas for analytics, reporting, and AI/ML use cases, optimizing database performance using techniques such as partitioning, indexing, and caching.
  • Monitor and maintain systems: Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and custom scripts, proactively identifying and resolving production issues.
  • Continuous learning and innovation: Stay current with emerging technologies in Azure data services, evaluating new tools and approaches to improve system efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Technical Skills:
    • Storage: Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB
    • Processing: Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, HDInsight
    • Integration: Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or Scala for data wrangling, analysis, and transformation
  • Solid knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and normalization techniques
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps practices including CI/CD, IaC with Azure DevOps, ARM templates, or Terraform
