About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Data Protection Officer to join our BT Risk and Security team in the Business Technology organization. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing strategies to improve the management of sensitive information, educating employees about data compliance, and managing Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) DLP capabilities, rules, and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop data protection roadmaps and implementation plans to achieve strategic goals, including high-value asset protection, data classification, and data loss prevention.
  • Work closely with Business Technology Partners (BTPs) to ensure data protection requirements and security controls are embedded in digital transformation and product roadmaps.
  • Provide expert advice and educate employees on important data compliance requirements, promoting a culture of data protection and compliance across the organization.
  • Manage and perform monitoring of DLP systems, rules, events, and incidents, responding to events and assessing potential business impact.
  • Draft new and amend existing internal data classification and protection guidelines and procedures, ensuring compliance with privacy and data protection regulations such as GDPR and LGPD.
  • Identify threats, establish protection goals, objectives, and metrics consistent with the Information Security program, and discuss continuous improvement with CISO and peers.
  • Manage BTRS staff, providing day-to-day guidance, training, and enabling individuals for successful progression in their careers.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience formulating information cyber security strategies, managing technology risks, and translating business requirements into technical security requirements.
  • 3+ years of experience in data protection compliance or a related field.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage sensitive and confidential information, and communicate complex ideas clearly.
  • Expertise in data protection laws and practices, including a deep understanding of GDPR and other privacy regulations.
  • Strong technical writing skills, with experience using Microsoft Office products, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and other documentation tools.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
